Pultruded Fiberglass Rods
Solid pultruded fiberglass rods the flexible, affordable alternative to carbon for kite spars, ferrule stock, and structural maker builds. Fiberglass rods offer more flex than carbon at equivalent diameters, making them ideal for applications where some give is desirable, such as leading edge tips, bridle spreaders, and beginner kite builds where durability under stress matters more than ultimate lightness/stiffness.
Available sizes:
- 4mm × 110cm
Why pultruded fiberglass rods?
- More flexible than carbon rods — better for high-impact or beginner builds
- Solid cross-section provides consistent stiffness along the full length
- Smooth finish for clean ferrule fits inside fiberglass or carbon tubes
- Lower cost than carbon — ideal for school kite projects and STEM builds
- Manufactured to tight tolerances by Exel, one of Europe’s leading composite producers
- Lightweight but heavier than carbon
Common uses: Kite spar tips, small kites, leading edge inserts, ferrule stock for fiberglass tubes, RC airframe components, antenna elements, and STEM structural projects.
